International Folklore Academy `Nestia-Black sea 2005`

International Folklore Academy `Nestia-Black sea 2005` is organized by Folklore Centre Nestia.
It is a kind of summer school, where the participants will learn music and folklor dances.
In the IFA can take part: folklore ensembles; dancing and vocal groups; soloists and instrumentalists; visiting ensembles and groups 25 years old. In this event can take part players from the others art genres too.

6th Seminar of Traditional Greek Dance

with Kyriakos Moisidis

The seminar on Greek traditional dance will take place from July 3rd to July 13th in the village of Platamonas, which is approximately a hundred kilometres south of Thessaloniki, at the Kronos hotel.
For the duration of the seminar, participants will learn dances and songs from the village of Platamonas as well as dances from neighbouring village Leptokaria. Dances from Rizomata of Pieria, Lefkopigi of Kozani, Goumenissa of Kilkis, Bana of Eastern Romylia, Bafra, Argiroupoli and Trapezounta of Pontos, will also be taught at the seminar. There will be 4 – 5 hours of instruction daily. Most sessions will be accompanied by live traditional music.

The seminar price per person is 700 euros which includes all accommodation (with food), instruction, informational packages, and the excursions!

International Seminar Traditional Dances Banatfolk

Organized by Marius URSU (Choreographer of `Doina Timisului` Romanian Ensemble)

Lodge: 6 nights in Timisoara and 4 nights in Prigor, a village placed on the Almajului Valley.

Price, transport not included:
The price is 520 Euros per person.
An additional 50 Euros for a single room

Price includes:
- Transportation from the airport in Timisoara to the hotel (if you travel by plane)
- In Timisoara full boarding at hotel, in double room with breakfast included and 2 hot meals a day
- In Prigor full boarding at the local's homes with the meals togetter
- Dancing course with the coreographer master Marius Ursu and his wife Maria (accompanied by live orchestra)
- Evenings in Prigor, a village of the mountaneous region, and meetings with the locals
- Two folkloric evenings with the folk ensemble "Doina Timisului"
- Free entrance to The International Folk Festival "Festivalul Inimilor", between the 6th and the 10th of July 2005.
- Free entrance to the Village Museum and the Banat Museum
- Accompanying by Marius Ursu throughout the period

World Music: Folk Music Workshop

MUSIC OF ISTRIA GROŽNJAN

This workshop is to present the music of Istria and to explore the possibilities of its application within the context of Croatian folk music.

It is going to contribute to the preservation and development of cultural tradition in Croatian communities around the world and introduce this inspiring part of Croatian cultural legacy to musicians worldwide.

Folk music workshop is divided into three sections:
I. Study of theory - lectures on different topics /musicological field of Croatian folk music
II. Practice - a modern perception of the traditional:
- learning choruses and verses, arrangement and practise of musical back-up
- meeting the musicians
III. Extracurricular activities:
- documentary film shows related to the workshops
- sightseeing tour of Istra
- study visits to museums

We invite all folk music lovers to our workshop headed by top Croatian folkmusicologists and musicians.
This workshop is intended for adults over 17.
Every voice and instrument is most welcome!

Ethno

Ethno is based on workshops, where the participants teach each other. The teaching and learning will mainly be by ear, but written music can be used for support. Ethno is not based on performances, but you will have the opportunity to present your music and what you’ve learned by participating at some concerts, evening dances and street performances. Ethno is a not a contest or competition.

Ethno welcomes all instruments including vocal traditions. All participants will get practise in adapting their music to other instruments than their own. You have to be between 16 and 25 years of age to apply.

8th International Folk Festival - Schagen 2005

Participation in this festival is only for very good and spectacular groups.
The group may consist of 30 persons including drivers, music and supervision. The group must consist of dancers and musicians with age between 16 and 50.
6 foreign groups may participate at the festival.
Besides participation in our festival we also offer the possibility to participate in another Dutch festival which will precede our festival.
