       World Music: Folk Music Workshop
        
       
          MUSIC OF ISTRIA GROŽNJAN 
 
This workshop is to present the music of Istria and to explore the possibilities of its application within the context of Croatian folk music. 
 
It is going to contribute to the preservation and development of cultural tradition in Croatian communities around the world and introduce this inspiring part of Croatian cultural legacy to musicians worldwide. 
 
Folk music workshop is divided into three sections: 
I.          Study of theory - lectures on different topics /musicological field of   Croatian folk music  
II.                Practice          - a modern perception of the traditional: 
-   learning choruses and verses, arrangement and practise of musical back-up 
-   meeting the musicians 
     III.     Extracurricular activities: 
- documentary film shows related to the workshops          
- sightseeing tour of Istra  
- study visits to museums 
 
We invite all folk music lovers to our workshop headed by top Croatian folkmusicologists and musicians.  
This workshop is intended for adults over 17. 
Every voice and instrument is most welcome!

       Ethno
        
       
          Ethno is based on workshops, where the participants teach each other. The teaching and learning will mainly be by ear, but written music can be used for support. Ethno is not based on performances, but you will have the opportunity to present your music and what you’ve learned by participating at some concerts, evening dances and street performances. Ethno is a not a contest or competition. 
 
Ethno welcomes all instruments including vocal traditions. All participants will get practise in adapting their music to other instruments than their own. You have to be between 16 and 25 years of age to apply.
