The National Folklore Ensemble was established in 1951 by the distinguished Bulgarian composer Philip Koutev. It was named on him in 1983 and has been bearing his name till now (Bulgarian National Folklore Ensemble "Philip Koutev").
The mission of the Folklore Ensemble PHILIP KOUTEV is to represent on the stage the great variety of the traditional Bulgarian folklore culture by songs, dances, instrumental pieces, customs and rituals, either authentic ones, or arranged ones, or such composed on the basis of our folklore.
