Days of open doors were announced from 28 to 30 September in Bulgaria. The cultural institutes provided for a free entrance on the occasion of European days of heritage in Bulgaria for the 9th time.

From 28 to 30 September National History Museum opened all halls. National Art Gallery showed its permanent exposition and the exhibitions of Rossitsa Stanisheva and Ivan Milev. A videowall in front of the gallery displayed documentaries connected to its activities.

National Gallery for Foreign Art exhibited “Bavarian Artists”, which is a part of Bavarian cultural days and, the exhibition of the popular American artist Roy Lichtenstein. On 29 September at 4:30 PM in Reurich Hall of National Gallery for Foreign Art the women’s choir “Cosmic Voices” held a concert on the occasion of European days of heritage. In the frames of the days the visitors of the gallery had the daily opportunity to watch films about Picasso, Baraka, Goya, Gustave Klimt, Caravaggio, etc. The initiative includes National Museum “Earth and People” in Sofia.

The entrance was free of charge in the museums and galleries in Varna, Shoumen, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Pleven, Bourgas, Blagoevgrad, Dobrich, Kiustendil, Pazardzhik, Rousse, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Yambol and others. Moreover, the different other activities that the organizers provided for the visitors were a unique chance to become well acquainted with the great cultural heritage of Bulgaria. In Varna municipality the students were invited to take part in research expeditions to cultural and eco itineraries in archaeological and architectural reserve. A discussion was also anticipated as part of the expeditions on the subject of “Preserving and encouraging the forms of cultural expression”.

Children from Shoumen were invited to an open lesson entitled “Bulgaria in the common European family” and the cultural house Stoyan Chilingirov in the town made a charity exhibition “Children create for children”. Visitors saw also Tombul Dzhamia for free.

Plovdiv inhabitants were offered a magnificent “Museums and art galleries night”. On 28 September at 11 PM they were invited to “Midnight meeting with Japan”, where they got closer to the work of Japanese volunteers in Bulgaria. Plovdiv presented also the expositions “United Bulgaria”, “Bulgarian Renaissance” and a concert of Plovdiv ecclessiastical seminary.

Night visits to museums and art galleries and libraries were also organised in Stara Zagora. Besides the Regional history museum and the Town Art Gallery, the entrance was free of charge for the following galleries: L. Bayer, Zodiac, Roman Mosaic, Gallery 8, Radev, Donchevski, Alba Avitohol, Pare and Palitra. Rodina library organized children’s atelier “Night butterflies” in the town garden.

In Pleven, along with the open doors in museums and galleries, the organizers had anticipated a project called “European lessons”, aiming to teach the small kids. It included causeries “Hello, Museum!” for the first grade students in the municipality, film shows in the Regional history museum entitled “In the world of national history”, “Ecological education”, and an exhibition of children’s drawings “Fighters for our liberty”.

Veliko Tarnovo’ population and guests had the chance to visit all museums and monuments of culture on the territory of the municipality.
