Nadka Ivanova Karadjova
folk singer - soprano

Born in the town of Pazardjik, in a family with several generations of singers. An original talent and unique performer she is one of the most outstanding Bulgarian folk singers. The crystal-like voice, eminent skill and artistry of Nadka Karadjova spread all around the world the beauty of the Bulgarian folk song from the region of Srednogorie. At the age of fifteen she becomes a singer in the State Ensemble for Folk Dance and Songs 'Philip Koutev'. In April 1991 together with Svetla Ivanova, Liliana Galevska and Stoyanka Lalova she founded the female quartet 'Slavey'. The new program of the quartet includes orthodox music as well. The rich and various repertoire of Nadka Karadjova comprises more than 300 songs. They appear in a multitude of records on the Bulgarian National Radio and transmissions on the Bulgarian National Television. The singer has taken part in the creation of 15 CDs. Her songs sound out of gramophone records and audio tapes. Japan, the USA, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Syria, Kuwait - more that 80 countries have experienced the pleasure of the rich artistic talent of the folk singer. In her creative carrier she has given over 14 000 concerts. She is a winner of many international prizes and prestigious insignia of honors in Bulgaria.



Svetla Stefanova Ivanova
folk singer - soprano

Svetla Ivanova was born in the town of Sofia. She completes her higher education in the town of Plovdiv as a singer - pedagogue. She starts singing at the age of 7. Svetla Ivanova is a daughter of the folk singer Nadka Karadjova. Inspired by the beauty of her mother's singing, following her example she falls in love with the Bulgarian folk music and at present she is a conductor of the quartet 'Slavey'. She had been singing for eighteen years in the State Ensemble for Folk Dances and Songs 'Philip Koutev'. Since 1991 she has been directing and singing in the quartet 'Slavey'. She has participated in the issue of eight CDs in various recording studios. Together with her mother she records an audio-tape. She also has a great number of records in the Bulgarian National Radio. She has visited over 45 countries like Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Israel, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Finland - Pori Jazz, Norway - Molde Jazz, Denmark, Rosekilde Jazz and many others. She was invited like a guest-soloist in choir 'Le Mistere des voix Bulgares' for more than 3 years. Her repertoire is enriched as with the songs of her mother as well as with songs from different regions in Bulgaria. She teaches folk singing in the 'Kliment Ohridski' University.
