GUEST ARTISTS AND TEACHERS TEACHING WORKSHOPS ALL DAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:

ATANAS KOLAROVSKI is the legendary Macedonian dancer nonpareil and former lead soloist and director of "Tanec".
Atanas has helped to spread Macedonian culture and folklore throughout North America, Europe, and East Asia.
AHMET LÜLECI is a fabulous dancer and one of the premier teachers of Turkish dance in the world. Ahmet directs
the popular annual "World Camp" on the east coast and is in great demand at workshops, camps, and festivals.
ŠANI RIFATI is the director of the Voice of Roma and will give presentations on the dance, songs, & culture of the Roma.
Voice of Roma sponsored tours with Esma Redžepova, "Queen of Romani Music", Yuri Yunakov, & "KAL".
VENTZI SOTIROV is a native of Sandanski in the Pirin-Macedonian region. He was a lead soloist with the Bulgarian
National Folk Ensemble "Pirin" and was rated by his peers the number professional dancer in Bulgaria.
CHRIS BAJMAKOVICH is a young, talented, and versatile musician and vocalist much in demand in the Macedonian
community who can play Macedonian, Bulgarian, Rom, Serbian, and other genres with equal authority.
LJUPČO MILENKOVSKI, a native of Dračevo, Macedonia was a three-time gold-medalist on the Macedonian kaval
(shepherd's flute) at the Dolnensko-Prilepsko folk festival and is the last and best student of the legendary Mile Kolarov.
JAMES STOYANOFF is a master of the clarinet and performs and teaches Greek, Macedonian, and Turkish music.
He studied clarinet with such masters as Karakos, Halkias, Anestopoulos, Gündeğer, and others.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY EVENING EVENTS:

FRIDAY and SATURDAY evening will feature exciting music and performances by a variety of master Balkan musicans.
Jim Stoyanoff and friends has formed a "čalgija" (traditional town Macedonian orchestra) and will lead off the weekend with this style of music as well as classics from the old-time bands of Kime Nanchoff et al. Also, Ljupčo Milenkovski Orchestra; "Music4U" with Chris Bajmakovich & friends; "Balkanski Ritmi" Bitov Orch, including Angel Dobrev (gadulka), Stamen Gardzhev, (gaida), Kotse Marinov (tapan); the St. George Tamburaši; plus "Balkanske Igre", & others.

SUNDAY EVENING post-festival dinner for the teachers, committee, and friends has been so much fun, we are inviting everyone to join us at (restaurant to be announced) for dinner, music, and dancing. Check form if interested.

Once again, The Danube, the longest European river will be the host of our festival. Virtuoso musicians, who take their inspiration from going against the stream, will gather on the ship because music is like the river flows, never the same. The theme of this edition will be "Music and Memory".

Musicians from the eight countries along Danube will play together and explore their cultural traditions. Many special guests from Turkey, Greece, Armenia, Russia, Albania, Norway, Spain and other countries will join them. We will get together unexpected meetings with: Alan Bern & " The Other Europeans" band, Ahmet Misirli, Ivo Papasov, Marta Sebestyen, Carlos Nunez and many others............

What makes this festival unique is its incomparable atmosphere of music and creativity that exists day and night. Kom och känn dansglädjen: Njut av den variationsrika bulgariska folkdans- och musikskatten tillsammans med Nikolay, en fantastisk bulgarisk instruktör, koreograf och pedagog och en bejublad dansare, improvisatör och inspiratör (mera på sida 2).

Plats: Friskis & Svettis-lokal: Annexet, S:t Eriksgatan 63, 2 tr. ner.

Skor: Golvet med sportmatta är lite hårdare (strävare?) än parkett, så använd
ev. skor med lite tjockare sula. Om du är osäker, ta med flera olika skor.
OBS: Högklackade skor är inte tillåtet i salen (och fungerar dåligt till
bulgariska danser)! OBS! Ta med bälte.

LITE BULGARISK FAKTABAKGRUND:

Bulgarien har en blandad och variationsrik historia, kultur, folklore, folkdans och folkmusik i de fem huvudområden: Severn (Norra), Šop, Pirin, Trakien och Dobrudža och otaliga underområden.
Detta präglar Bulgariens sedan länge avancerade folkdansutbildningar av olika slag. Man tar vara på folkliga danser från byarna och städerna, preciserar stilen och stegen, tar fram essensen i de folkliga traditionerna och sätter danserna i sitt sammanhang och visar slutligen upp hela härligheten för publik.
I Bulgarien existerar hela spektret av folkdansgrupper, från bygrupper med ett par, tre danser på repertoaren, över amatörensembler som tränar 4 gånger i veckan, till professionella ensembler.

De danser vi brukar få lära oss kan vara allt från helt enkla till otroligt komplicerade där ingen takt är den andra lik.

OM NIKOLAI TSVETKOV:
Nikolai är en ödmjuk person med stor passion för bulgarisk folkdans.
Han är en intensiv och hängiven dansare som dansar med hjärtat och är en vidunderlig improvisatör, snabb och lyhörd. Han talar begränsad engelska men kommunicerar utmärkt genom dansen: han får kursdeltagare att göra och härma med entusiasm. Det är inte konstigt att han blivit en lysande och efterfrågad lärare och koreograf såväl hemma i Bulgarien som på seminarier i Väst-Europa och Japan. Han är enbart 49 år och har ännu mycket att ge inom dansen.

Nikolai Tsvetkov är inte enbart en mycket erfaren dansare, lärare, koreograf och forskare. Han har dessutom blivit professor och lärare i bulgarisk folkdans och koreografi vid Universitetet i Blagoevgrad. Danskomposition, koreografi, metodik och dansnotation är hans ämnen. Årligen väljs 15-20 studenter bland 60 utplockade sökande. ”Skolan” har c:a 80 danselever i 3 - 4 årskullar, varav hälften män!

Nikolai fick utbildning vid koreografiskolan i Sofia i slutet på 70-talet och gjorde sin värnplikt som dansare i arméns dansensemble. I början av 80-talet fick han utbildning i folkdans och koreografi på Dansakademin i Plovdiv. Samtidigt var han dansare och senare solist i den berömda trakiska ”Ensemble Trakija” (Googla gärna). Därefter har han dansat, och blev repetitör och koreograf i den ännu mer kända ”Ensemble Pirin” (Googla gärna) i Blagoevgrad fram till 1996. Ensemblen är specialiserad på dans och musik från Pirin (Bulgariska Makedonien), den region han själv kommer från, född och uppvuxen i det sägenomspunna Petrič. Han kommer från en traditions- bärande familj. Men han är inte bara expert på Pirindanser utan behärskar även de andra områdena till fingerspetsarna. Pirindanserna är ändå hans favoriter, hans ”blod”.

Nikolai har också arbetat som dansare och koreograf i den relativt nybildade ”Ensemble Bulgare” (Googla gärna). En fantastisk ensemble med den ena stjärndansaren efter den andra. Själv var han en av stjärnorna, inte så storvuxen men med en makalös kapacitet att ensam uppfylla en jättescen som solist!

Vår egen lärare, Mona Gustavsson (med bl.a. ett halvårs danslärarutbildning från Plovdivskolan utöver bulgariska språkstudier), kommer att finnas på plats på kursen bl.a. för att översätta om det kniper.

A Unique Children's Art Forever!
Participants will have a chance to show their talent and skill, and at the same time they will enjoy the beauty of the most attractive city’s in Europe and meet new friends.
The International Festival -competition for the participants from 8th. to 26 years is held in the following categories: Choreography – solo & groups (folk - -ethnic dance);
Singing (folk);Folk instruments – groups (large and small).

The festivals of the Endowment Fund International Youth Forum has been in existence since 2002 and is now a biennial event. It has established itself as an intimate, friendly, well-organised event with an emphasis on making life as easy as possible for participating groups and their directors.
Since 2002, projects organized by the fund have been supported by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, by the City Hall of Prague, governors of regions and international organizations and political structures in the EU. Also, the festival of the Endowment Fund was included in the culture program of the Czech Presidency of the European Union in 2009.
Every year the fund organizes over 15 social projects in the Czech Republic, Germany, France and Austria and in other countries with a total participation of about 10,000 children.
We hope that you will choose one of these festivals, where you will represent your talented groups from your country on the prestige international competition on the best stages in the Europe.

The Cyclads are the most beatiful archpelago, in the world, with 30 unique islands : Amorgos, Anaphi, Andros, Donousa, Giaros, Ios, Irakleia, Kea, Keros, Kouphonisi, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros & Antiparos, Pholegandros, Poliegos, Schinousa, Seriphos, Sikinos, Siphnos, Thira (Santorin), Tinos, etc...

Each Cyclad has its own culture, history, tradition.

During this 2-day workshop-seminar based in Paris, we will welcome Apostolis Psarros, a true islander : he is from Naxos.
You cannot really teach the dances from a region if you are not coming from this specific region.

The seminar has 10 hours of teaching (2 X 5, saturday & sunday), and will be based in Paris downtown, in the superb Sorbonne University.
