The seminar will be held in Pieria (the land of the ancient Thracian tribe ‘Pieres’ and the Muses), on the flanks of Mount Olympus, the mythological residence of the ancient Greek pantheon, and close to the coasts of the blue Aegean Sea. The seminar will take place from 19 to 28th July 2013, when most traditional feasts (‘panegyria’) take place in the area.

The seminar program will offer courses of traditional Greek dances and customs from different regions of Macedonia and Thrace (Katafygi of Kozani, Roumlouki, Kosti, Gagavouzides and Metaxades) as well as lessons in traditional Greek culture, philosophy, language, music and singing from well-known teachers, researchers and musicians (Angelos Nikolaidis, Zoi Vesiropoulou, Panagiotis Pagonidis, Vasilis Gerovasileiou, Lefteris Pavlou, Efi Chatzichidiroglou, Yannis Kakaras and Panagiotis Pavlos). There will also be special nights of traditional music at the seminar venue or in villages, where we will have the chance to dance with local people. Various excursions to villages, archaeological sites, ethnographic museums and the traditional fire-walking ritual of Anastenaria will give the chance to experience the Greek culture and civilization.

We are expecting you for a unique cultural experience!!!

PLACE: Pieria, Mt Olympus, Greece – around 90 km from Thessaloniki airport (easily reached by train and bus). Participants can also be transferred from the airport to the seminar venue for a small charge.

- 19 July 2013 – Arrival after 2 pm. Registration after 6 pm. Dinner followed by informal dancing
- 20-25 July 2013 – Cultural courses, tours and ‘glendia’
- 26 July 2013 – Celebration (‘panegyri’) of Agia Paraskevi (Saint Paraskevi) at the village of Kypseli Emathias with live music (zourna) and local dancers
- 27 July 2013 – Visit to Langadas for the famous traditional fire-walking ritual of ‘Anastenaria’ on Saint Panteleimon’s day
- 28 July 2013 – Departure after breakfast

- Katafygi Kozanis of the Pierian Mountains with Panagiotis Pagonidis and local people from the village
- Roumlouki with Zoi Vesiropoulou and local people from Kypseli
- Gagavouzides (Eastern & Western Thrace) with Angelos Nikolaidis

- Kosti and Brodivo (Northern Thrace) with Vasilis Gerovasileiou and Lefteris Pavlou

SPECIAL COURSES:
- Traditional singing and Greek language through traditional songs with Yannis Kakaras and Panagiotis Pavlos
- Handcrafting with Efi Chatzichidiroglou and old women from the villages of Pieria

* There is possibility to arrange extra lessons of traditional musical instruments for those who are interested (e.g. gaida, clarinet, and percussion).

HIGHLIGHTS:
- Dancing with local people at the villages (Katafygiotika Katerinis & Kypseli Emathias)
- World famous traditional fire-walking ritual of Anastenaria on Saint Panteleimon’s day

The festival is part of a series of events in the program of the Festival season 2013, it’s organizing in Sofia and Primorsko, including:
The festivals are included in the cultural program of Primorsko with the assistance of the mayor of the municipality.
The festival has the objective to give a chance for expression on a significant number of children and young people and help raise their motivation to engage in constructive creative activity as a preventive measure in combating the vicious addictions (cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, etc.) and aggression.
Exchange of information and creative achievements of the dance styles.
Deadline for submission of application form: - to 10.04.2013;
Type of the festival: The festival has a competitive character and will be held in two competitive directions:
FOLKLORE DANCES AND VOCAL GROUPS AND SOLOISTS;
MODERN DANCES AND POPULAR MUSIC
REGULATION

In the competition can participate dance ensembles, vocal groups and soloists, instrumental formations and individual singers.

Criteria:
The festival is held in four competitive categories:
- Solo performances;
- duet;
- chamber groups - to 7 person;
- formation – up to 8 person.

FOLKLORE DANCE AND VOCAL GROUPS AND SOLOISTS
Age groups:
- Children groups and solo artists - to 12 years;
- Youth formations and solo artists - from 13 to 16 years;
- Youth formations and solo artists - from 17 to 22 years

Competent jury will evaluate and rank the candidates in the following categories:

- Folklore dances and songs;
- Stylized folkloreСтилизиран български фолклор;
REQUIRMENTS

Dance groups:
There is no limit for the number of participants.
The program of the dance groups must to include two dances by your choice- with maximum duration to 15 minutes.
Vocal groups and solo artists:
The program must include two songs, the first a cappella, the second with musical accompaniment,
with duration to 7 minutes.
Note: It’s recommended the accompaniment to be with live orchestra.
- Use of CD only with studio CD recording.
- It’s not allowing performance on playback.
Evaluation criteria: artistic qualities of the repertoire, style and character of the performance; performance artistry and compositional decisions, stage presence and generally artistic impact, style and musical repertoire; Suit.
Stylized folklore: Can participate groups, which combine in their repertoire folk and modern dances.
Example: folklore music with modern technique or modern music with folklore elements.
- The program of dance groups should include two dances.
- Duration of the performances to 12 minutes.
- Music media - CD
Evaluation criteria: Artistic value of the performance, stage presence, technique and vision.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POPULAR MUSIC AND MODERN DANCES:
Dances: It’ s organized in three competitive categories:
 Solo performances;
 Chamber groups - to 7 people
 Formations - more than 8 people.
In the competition can participate groups developing their creativity in any of the following dance styles: Street dance /break dance, funk styles, hip hop, etc./ Disco dancing, majorettes / dance, dress and sport styles /; Modern dance techniques; jazz performances; Tap dance / step /, typical dances, belly dancing, Latin dancing, Dance shows / fire show, rubber, acrobatics, etc./
The program must include three dances with a total duration to 10 minutes.
Evaluation criteria: technique, composition (choreography), image, show presentation / idea.
Note: The competition is not conducted in styles and look for the most attractive show performance.
Popular music:
The program must include two songs, the first must to be from Bulgarian composer, with total duration to 6 minutes.
Note:
- Use of CD only with studio CD recording.
- It’s not allowing performance on playback.
Criteria for evaluation: Character and style of performance, stage presence and generally artistic impact; Suit.

THE REQUIREMENTS FOR OTHER STAGE DIRECTIONS:
Competition for theater groups, suggesting presence of compositionally - complete fragment with duration not more than 15 minutes.
For acrobatic and circus performances are allowed two performances with a total duration of 10 min.
Criteria for evaluation: Themes and selection of repertoire, performance artistry, staging, costume and props, originality, stage effects.
ORGANIZATION:
The programs for individual participation and these for the festival days will be given in the day of the arrival of the groups.
During the festival the concerts and the competition nights are on open summer stage in Primorsko and Kiten and on open stages in the area of the municipality.
It is envisaged a festive parade before the start of the concerts in each of the festival, exhibitions - bazaar of souvenirs, a meeting with the municipality administration, video and photo capture of the performances.
(The organizers reserve the right of any kind of recording, filming, broadcasting and distributing of the material without paying for rights and benefits.)
For all participants of the festival has the following entertainments: Disco, Neptun’ s night, Miss and Mister Festival.
On the Gala concert will be allowed only the nominated groups and these which the jury estimate.
For all participants in the festival were provided participation diplomas, plaques for the nominated, which will be presented at the gala concert.
During the festival is provided for the participants accommodation in hotel two stars, on the base of full board in city Primorsko against payment.

Transportation costs to Primorsko and back shall be paid by the participants!!!
Transport costs for the participants during the festival of the stages in Primorsko and Kiten are for the cost of the organizers.
The fees obligatory must to be paid by bank transfer in 15 days, after the confirmation for participation from the organizers. In this period it is necessary to send the transfer confirmation by email or fax. Applications without confirmation are canceled.

The Cultural Association IONES elebrates 10 years of active life in culture.

In previous 8 years the associations has organized 8 Folk Festivals and 3 children festivals. More than 300 groups

and more than 9000 artists from Greece and all over the world participated in the previous editions.

9th INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL

Terms of the International Folk Dance Festival

1.PLACE OF THE FESTIVAL
Nikoleika is a touristic place of Egialia Municipality in West Greece.
2.PARTICIPATION
Dancers must be over 17 years old.
Groups must be maximum 45 persons
Music can be live or recorded ( cd)

3. PERFORMANCES
The group must prepare the following
10 minutes performance for the opening and close ceremony
20 minutes performances for the main presentations
Performances will take place in nearby places too.
4. COMPETITION
The festival will have competitive character. Groups will be judged by Jury and by the public.

For the 1st place in each category money award will be given (The exact amount will be announced soon).
Award categories may be added by jury.
Groups that do not want to take place in the competition programme can be accepted after agreement and will not be judged.

International competitive festival for vocal performers, choirs and instrumental groups
„ Starries melodies”

It’s organized by: EUROGRADE Ltd, EUROGRADE BG Ltd, Association Bulgarian folklore with the assistance of Municipality Primorsko

The festival is part of a series of events in the program of the Festival season 2013, which is organized in Sofia and Primorsko.

REGULATION:
In the competition can participate both professional groups and amateur vocal performers, choir collectives and instrumental groupsfrom different age groups.

THE COMPETITION WILL BE HELD IN THREE AGE GROUPS:
 Children – to 12 years
 Youth - from 13 to 22 years
 Adult – up to 22 years

THE QUALIFIED JURY WILL EVALUATE AND CLASS THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE DIRECTIONS BELOW:
1. Vocal performers
2. Choir collectives
• Mixed and uniform /men, women/
3. Instrumental groups
• Mixed and uniform / it’s depend of the type of the instruments/

IN SOME OF THE NEXT MUSIC GENRES:
 Traditional/ folklore music;
 Modern / pop music;
 Classic music;

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION:
For vocal performers and choir collectives
The program must to include two songs, the first acapella, the second with music accompaniement- with total duration to 7 minutes, include entrence and exit from the stage and the pauses between the songs.
Note: The music accompaniement can be with live orchestra or on CD.
 Use of symbek, only with studio recorded CD.
 It’s not allowed performances on playback.
 The violation of the time will be report from the jury, only if the results are the same of two participants.
 It’s allowed participation in all the genres.

For instrumental groups
The program must to include 2 composition with total duration, as follows: children collectives- not more than 10 minutes, youth collectives- not more than 12 minutes; adult collectives- not more than 15 minutes.
Note: It’s allowed performances, part of production with biggest duration.
 The violation of the time will be report from the jury, only if the results are the same of two participants.
 It’s allowed participation in all the genres.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION:
Techniques – quality of the sound, precision of the intonanation tone, precision of the pronunciation of the text;
Artistic – construction of the musical form, parameters of the musical interpretation and preservation of the style of the performed production, selection of the program, stage presence.
ORGANISATION:
The competition of the festival will be held on the hall of the hotel “ Primary” or in the cultural centre of the city.
The festival program will be held on open stage in the center of the city.
It is envisaged a meeting with the municipality administration, video and photo capture of the performances.
In the application you must to fill the program of the group with the duration of the performances.
The programs for individual participation and these for the festival days will be given in the day of the arrival of the groups. The organizers reserve the rights to change the programs, if it’s necessary.

All the participants in the festival will receive diploma for participation.

Note: if the collectives are less than 3 in the different directions, genres and age groups, the festival will not have competitive character.
REGISTRATION:
To participate in the festival, you must to fill (Application form) consisting of:Entertaining history of the ensemble;
precise address, phone number, fax and e-mail to keep up a correspondence with you, number of participants, list of the group, list of the participants in the festival.
To the application form, if it’s possible, you can attach video recording of the group, colour photos and advertising materials.
The application forms with the list of the group must to be send to the organizers not later than 15.03.13 on the below written addresses, telephones or emails.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS:
The festival fee for participation in the festival is 15 euro per participant.
Transportation costs to Primorsko and back shall be paid by the participants!!!
